Eleanor Margaret Hayes, age 80, passed away peacefully on a quiet Sunday morning in her home, surrounded by the scent of the garden she spent her life cultivating.

She was a woman who believed that love was best expressed through actions: a warm meal on a cold day, a handwritten note just because, or a listening ear when it was needed most. Eleanor spent 32 years as a schoolteacher in Chatham County, where she shaped countless young minds and was known not for her lessons in arithmetic, but for her unwavering belief that every child had something brilliant inside them.

She was a devoted wife of 54 years to her late husband, Robert Charles Hayes, and a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who filled every room she entered with warmth. Her grandchildren called her "Grandma Ellie" and considered her kitchen the most sacred place on earth.

Eleanor is survived by her three children — Patricia Ann Fuller of Tampa, Robert James Hayes Jr. of Savannah, and David Lee Hayes of Atlanta — as well as seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who will carry her light forward.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Chatham County Literacy Foundation in Eleanor's name. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church on Saturday, September 9, at 11:00 a.m.

Rosa Alejandra Rivera, de 80 años, falleció pacíficamente una tranquila mañana de domingo en su hogar, rodeada por el amor de su familia y el aroma del café recién hecho que tanto disfrutaba.

Fue una mujer que creía que el amor se expresaba mejor a través de las acciones: una comida caliente en un día frío, una nota escrita a mano sin ninguna razón especial, o un oído atento cuando más se necesitaba. Rosa dedicó 30 años como maestra de primaria en el Condado de Miami-Dade, donde tocó innumerables vidas jóvenes con su paciencia infinita y su fe en cada niño.

Fue una esposa devota durante 54 años de su difunto esposo, Carlos Antonio Rivera, y una madre, abuela y bisabuela que llenó de calidez cada habitación que pisó. Sus nietos la llamaban "Abuelita Rosa" y consideraban su cocina el lugar más sagrado del mundo.

Rosa es sobrevivida por sus tres hijos — Patricia Ann en Tampa, Roberto Carlos en Miami, y David Alejandro en Nueva York — así como siete nietos y cuatro bisnietos que llevarán su luz hacia adelante.

En lugar de flores, la familia agradece donaciones a la Fundación de Alfabetización del Condado de Miami en nombre de Rosa. Se realizará un servicio memorial el sábado 9 de septiembre a las 11:00 a.m.
